Beastly Burglars is an interesting online slot. First of all, it has a unique theme: the premise is that an assortment of wild animals are planning to rob a museum and make off with valuable treasures. You’re invited to join the group of thieves and see if you earn some riches.

I liked how the slot had a set-up that differed from most other games. It used a 5x5 grid but had various positions blocked off behind safe doors, giving an actual grid of 1x3x5x3x1. A winning spin would unlock a random safe door and give a respin. The middle reel had a x2 multiplier after the first win of a sequence, with other reels gaining this multiplier if all their positions were revealed.

This feature was good, but it was much better in the free spins round as the multipliers could increase. Special multiplier symbols landed every so often, boosting the reel multipliers by up to x50 a time. This meant that the free spins round had the potential to be very rewarding indeed.

The first time I played it, the feature triggered on its own and paid me 21x, which wasn’t bad. I then decided to buy the round, for which there were three options available. The first one (eight spins) cost 80x and gave me a return of just over 80x, while the second (12 spins) had a cost of 240x and gave me just 123x. 

The third and final option (15 spins) cost 500x. I was expecting not to make my money back, but the opposite happened: I ended up winning a staggering 1,231x thanks to multipliers and respins. I was amazed by how much I’d won and really pleased I’d made the decision to buy the most expensive free spins option. It was a lot of money to pay, but I was clearly lucky enough for it to be worthwhile.
