Ugga Bugga: Beat the Black Drum All the Way Down the Frame

If Ugga Bugga sounds like a caveman's chant to you, you already got the idea Playtech had when making this slot. Instead of one grid, you get ten separate rows of three symbols, hung in two columns of five on a wooden frame in the jungle. Spear-carrying warriors, drums, tribal masks, and thatched huts fill them. But the most interesting thing here is how those ten rows behave.

Only the bottom left row spins when you hit spin. Once it stops, you press Hold under up to three of its symbols, and those get copied into the same positions on all ten rows. Everything else then spins on every row at once. Each row pays on its own, so a hold that already makes a combination collects ten wins instead of one.

Deeper in, you'll meet the drums, the huts, and the bowls of food, but the masks are the ones you want, and three black ones held in every row return 125x your bet.

My rows gave something back roughly once in four spins, and those returns ran between 0.2x and 1.5x my bet. The wild earned its place though, because holding one puts it on all ten rows, and those ten small wins add up to your stake.

The coins setting is the part most players skip, and it costs them. Your line bet is the coin value multiplied by the coins you play, up to five, and your stake is ten of those. Three wilds in a row pay 1,000x the line bet on five coins and 250x on anything less, so playing short throws away three-quarters of the game's top prize.

I ran three coins most of the session, which I regret now. My best hold was three black drums, and they filled every row for 50x my bet. With that, I felt like I explored just enough of this prehistoric jungle, and while not that profitable, my session was fun.
