I always like the look of slots that have an unexpected theme. Case in point: Pragmatic Play’s Mystery Mice, which is based on detectives that aren’t human, but instead mice. The graphics and animations are well designed (especially the mouse detective who stands by the grid) and the soundtrack is pretty good too.

The gameplay was enjoyable thanks to cluster pays and tumbles. What also made the slot appealing was the Power Wilds that came with a number and remained in place for that many tumbles. This was a good feature that made the slot more exciting and potentially more rewarding.

Then there was the free spins round. I decided to buy it for 100x my bet, but only ended up winning around 65x, which was a loss of slightly over a third of the initial cost. Still, the round was enjoyable, especially since Power Wilds remained in place in between tumbles. The free spins round also triggered on its own, this time giving me a payout of 43x. While this wasn’t as much as before, I hadn’t paid 100x so I considered it a great result. 

During the base game, I didn’t land any significant wins, though there were a few decent ones of around 5x my bet or greater. Even with cluster pays and tumbles, I wasn’t lucky enough to win big. 

Would I recommend playing Mystery Mice? I would, though I would suggest thinking twice about buying free spins as it’s always a gamble. Perhaps try the free demo version and buy it a few times to see what sort of results you get from it before playing the slot for real money.
