Apollo Stacks: Touch the Golden Reels With Jackpots up to 2,000X

Face down the Greek God of the Sun and his fiery bow in AGS’s Apollo Stacks. The slot brings a feature-packed experience with expanding symbols, gold reels, up to 15 free spins, and four different jackpots. Having said that, let me tell you why I have mixed feelings about the slot title.

The first thing that I noticed upon booting up the Apollo Stacks slot game was the look and feel of the game which was quite outdated. That wouldn’t have been much of an issue if the base game was solid but despite the 5x4 grid with 50 paylines, landing symbol combinations during gameplay was hard for me.

I was landing wins every 3 to 7 spins with the returns coming out relatively low at 0.3x to 1.3x my bet. There were times when the reels would randomly turn gold and extra wilds would land giving me between 5x to 7.6x returns but they were quite rare making the overall base game unprofitable.

This is where I should mention the Gold and Symbol Expansion feature. The gold reels are triggered randomly during the base game and up to 4 reels can be completely golden in color. This doesn’t affect gameplay until you land enough for a jackpot or an Appolo Stacks symbol which expands and fills the gold reels with wilds.

This feature helped me win a mini 20x jackpot after about 30 spins which was quite impressive. Despite the underwhelming base game, you get plenty of chances to win big in this title which I was a big fan of.

Finally, let me finish this impression with the free spins feature. Landing the bonus game requires landing 3 sun symbols and gives you the choice between 6 spins with high gold symbols, 10 with medium gold symbols, and 15 with low gold symbols.

I would only recommend going for the 10 spins with half the reel turned golden as it is a decent middle ground between the two extremes and gave me the most consistent wins coming in at between 14x to 27x returns.

Despite the unimpressive base game, the features present inside Apollo Stacks make it a fun title that is worth trying out if you enjoy complex games. I’d recommend trying out the demo here to get a feel for the mechanics before playing it for real money though.
