As I dropped by the Wild West slot by Fazi, I was immediately struck by the thematic prowess of this slot game. It's an ode to the dusty streets and rustic saloons of the American Wild West.

As you would expect in an Old West-themed slot, the symbols look like they could have walked out of an old Western flick. The sheriff is the wild symbol. Land five sheriffs for a hefty 50x payout of your bet.

The saloon girl is the highest-paying symbol other than the wild. It rewards 25x for five on a pay line. The mustachioed man and cards A and K are the lower-paying of this hierarchy, with A paying up to 7.5x and K up to 5x for five of a kind.

When I took to its reels, I decided on a conservative bet. With 20 fixed pay lines, I knew I'd got a fair shot at winning in this game. Wins came steadily, though I realized that higher bets could pave the way to jackpot wins, but more on this later.

By my third spin, the sheriff's badge, which is the scatter symbol, landed on the third reel, unlocking three free spins. However, these free spins cannot be retriggered.

In the bonus game, reels 2,3, and 4 turn into a hot zone of locked wilds. This led to an Ultra Win, that is when I won 124 times my bet, and a Mega win of more than 93 times my bet. By the end of the free spins, I had won 250 times my stake.

Coming back to jackpots, there are three types you can find here: gold, diamond, and platinum. Every time you spin, a bit of your bet adds to the jackpot pile. When a jackpot is won, it could happen on any spin, and if your spin is the one, you win all the jackpot money.

There's also a Gamble feature which is activated after every win. If you win something, you can press the GAMBLE button (a 2x multiplier) which appears on the left side of the screen for a chance to double your winnings.

On the next screen, you pick either red or black, and if you guess the color of the next card right, you double your money. If you're wrong, you lose what you won on that spin.

While I find this feature common in Fazi slots, such as the magic-themed Wizard slot I played before, my attempts at doubling my wins were unsuccessful this time. Nevertheless, the rush of the gamble was invigorating: to gamble for double or nothing.
