Golden Dragon: A Mild Sizzle Rather Than Fiery Roar

Golden Dragon by GameArt has certainly got the basics down but the dragons aren't as fiery as I'd hoped.

First things first, for a game that was rolled out in 2016, the artwork felt a bit like a throwback, kind of clunky and not quite up to the snazzy standards we see these days. It's a bit of a buzzkill when the visuals don't match the hype. The tunes got that Asian flair, but it's the same old melody looping around.

Now, let's talk about the basics. The Wild symbol here is a Golden Dragon, as anybody would expect, and it pays out a meager 40x the total bet for five dragons.

The wild symbol is stacked in both base and Free Spins games, which is a nice touch.

The Scatter, a shiny ingot, pops up on the middle reels. When I stacked up three of those anywhere on reels 2,3 and 4, I could unlock the bonus feature.

The bonus feature dishes out 5 free spins without any multiplier, and that was a big turn-off for me as multipliers are quite mainstream these days. I must add that the free spins are a small pop in what should be a grand display.

The paytable's a bit of a downer too. The high-value symbols, Phoenix and Lion, cough up just 8x the stake for the full line-up. The Fish and Bat aren't much better, and the lower symbols barely make a splash.

The Autoplay feature has got a loss limit option, which is a big plus for playing it safe. I tried the Gamble feature a couple of times and hit a modest win on my second go.

If you’re feeling lucky, the gamble feature can double your fun. But if luck’s not on your side, you could lose it all. In this round, you have to guess the color of the card, red or black, five times in a row. Imagine hitting it big!

Would I recommend Golden Dragon? It's a decent warm-up slot, especially if you're new on the casino floor and not looking to burn through your wallet too fast. Just don't expect a fireworks show, and you might walk away with a grin, not a grumble.
