Vending Machine: Laid Back Beats with Cascading Wins and Multipliers

Fans of retro-futuristic pixel art should be looking into Hacksaw Gaming’s Vending Machine slot title. It features a relaxing theme, colorful sugary symbols, cascading wins, up to 10x multipliers, and a simple free spins bonus game. There’s plenty to love here and let me tell you why below! 

The game starts with a subtle Lo-Fi melody coupled with cityscapes illuminated by the moonlight and street lamps. The base game gives you a 5x5 grid with 35 paylines and cascading reels to make wins. As is tradition in titles with similar mechanics, the wins during the base game were relatively tame during my playthrough. 

I would land a small symbol combination every 2 to 4 spins with the payout varying between 0.20x to 3x the bet. Most wins would hover around the 0.60x to 1x my bet which is why the base game wasn’t very profitable. The key to winning big is to activate multiplier lights that are placed to the left of the playable grid on each reel.

Landing lightning bolt scatters activate these multipliers which can vary between 2 to 10 times the amount. Once active, any symbol combination that touches the grid gets the multiplier awarded to it. You also have a blackout symbol that can deactivate a row’s multiplier but it was super rare during my time in the game. 

With all that out of the way, activating the multipliers and getting bigger wins during regular gameplay was easier said than done in my case. More often than not, the lightning symbol has the tendency to drop higher on the reels which results in smaller cascades and smaller symbol combinations. 

Moving on to the bonus game, landing 3 or more free spin symbols triggers the Lo-Fi spins mini-game. During the round, three reels of multipliers are activated and you get to spin the reels for as long as these reel multipliers are active.

Blackout symbols are quite common during the round but you can still expect between 12 to 25 spins before the round is over. From further testing, I also found that the wins weren’t very high during the rounds coming just shy of 8 to 12 times my bet. 

The spin and chill mini-game is much harder to land but promises a bigger payout requiring four Free Spin scatters but activating all five multipliers. I only managed to trigger the round twice during my fairly long playthrough but got to play 21 and 26 spins with payouts between 40x to 45x my bet. 

You also get a bonus buy feature in the game but I wouldn’t recommend buying it as the wins during the bonus games don’t justify the high cost of the bonus buy button. Other than that, the Vending Machine slot game by Hacksaw Gaming has all the vibes and beats alongside some high-potential wins to make it worth trying out.
