Popiplay’s Xmas Crash isn’t the traditional Christmas-themed slot you would expect from regular software developers. Santa’s on a well-deserved vacation with his Reindeer on a tropical island with his very own water slide! 

Coming to the gameplay, the 6x5 grid feels quite big and the cascading reel mechanic makes this slot perfect for people who enjoy having a lot of different symbols in their games. I did notice that the betting range is a bit small starting at $0.20 and going up to $12, but I understood why they did that later during gameplay. 

Despite the high volatility of the game, I found that wins were quite frequent. Generally, I was getting matches every 2 or 3 spins with my winnings ranging from 0.25x to 6x the bet. For the most part during my session, I found that the usual wins go from 0.25x to 2x my bet. 

Moving on to the features, you have the classic free spins with a small but profitable twist, which are random multipliers. You can get between 10 to 30 free spins depending on how many scatter symbols you land and if 3 scatters drop during the bonus rounds, you get an extra 5 spins. 

During this round, after every spin you also get random multiplier drops that activate only if you form a winning combination. These multipliers can go up to 100x which I landed once and made my biggest win throughout my session. 

This is where I should also mention that getting to the bonus round is really tough. During my playthrough which lasted an hour, I only got to it once with decent but not big wins in any case. You have a bonus buy to counter that issue as it lets you either buy the spins outright for 100x your bet or buy a 2x chance booster for an added 0.25x bet. 

After trying out the 2x chance bonus for a good while, I didn’t notice much of a difference, and buying the free spins is a very risky affair. For the 100x commitment, your wins can be as low as 20x your bet amount or as high as 800x as it did in my case once. For the most part, my wins stood between 30x to 70x the bet which was decent but not very profitable. 

All in all, Xmas Crash is a light-hearted and fun slot with beautiful graphics, smooth animations, and a neat free spins feature. Could be a perfect place to start if you are into cascading reels.
