Magic Number: Prepare to Be Surprised…in a Bad Way
Victor Catalin rated this game:
1.5 out of 5
Let’s start with the obvious. The graphics and sound design. Immediately after I opened up the game, I was greeted by a rudimentary design. A plain black background, and an awful amount of fonts and colors used for the text. While I don’t mind simplicity, the implementation here is one of the worst I’ve seen. The game looks atrocious, and it sounds like that too. The sound effects are muffled and very low quality.
Because of this, I don’t think any kind of feature set can make my experience with the game fun or engaging. Unfortunately for Magic Number, the gameplay is on par with the visuals. I must admit that there are some interesting features available. One of them is the ability to select one special number to work as a multiplier. You also have the ability to gamble your prize in a round, for a chance to increase your winnings.
There’s also an autoplay function included, that works nicely and gives the game a more fast-paced vibe. Another interesting feature, that in my opinion no one asked for, is the ability to play with one of four card designs, including numbers and bingo balls. I kept my gameplay simple, with the classic cards selected, because my goal in the end was to get profitable, and I don’t think the other card appearances could change the way I think about the graphics.
Unfortunately, I can’t say I’ve had a good time during my gameplay session. I muted the sound from the beginning, and after a short period of time, I got bored and frustrated with the small winnings. Maybe I’ve had some bad luck, but I don’t think it was just that. There are simply better alternatives out there.
- Good set of features
- Very bad graphics
- Awful sound design
- Could have been more lucrative
