Bar X Triple Play Megaways: Old School Slot with a Taste of Megaways

If you are a Classic slot game enthusiast, you might be eyeing Storm Gaming Technology’s Bar X Triple Play Megaways. After spending about an hour in the game, I think I can tell you about the good, the bad, and the ugly, and what made me give it a pretty average rating in the end. 

From the very beginning, I was hooked on the fairly large 6x6 grid with Megaways on it. The arcade-like music may not be for everybody but I feel like it fits in nicely with the classic theme. 

The megaways feature is complemented by a reaction mechanic as well which is essentially a cascading wins mechanic. From my experience, it helps you make two or three consecutive small wins at times which is very exciting. 

Now coming to the in-game features, I found that the Pick Me feature is the easiest to land in the game. All you need are 3 mini-scatter symbols to get started. That being said, I only managed to trigger it twice during my playthrough so I wouldn’t exactly call it common. 

Wins during the bonus were substantial but not big by any means, I’d say you’d be making much more with the free spins on offer. I wouldn’t recommend expecting big and flashy wins from the game, it’s more of a small frequent win type slot that Megaways are known for. 

The free spins feature requires 3 or 4 golden scatter symbols to trigger and gives you between 5 to 10 spins. It took me a solid 45 minutes to trigger the feature and I wouldn’t recommend hoping to get lucky and getting it on the first try. 

I was getting one or two golden scatters every 5 or 6 spins and the low number of free spins on offer didn’t make me actively look forward to it either. Furthermore, you have no bonus buy mechanic which can help you skip the base game here. 

Although I’m not the biggest fan of Bar X Triple Play Megaways, I still think it's worth trying especially if you enjoy old-school one-armed bandits. Just remember that, unlike modern games where triggering features are the norm, here the features will take a while to come to you.
