Smoking Pistols: A Wild West Showdown With 10x Multiplier Wilds And up to 25 Free Spins

Booming Games has been pumping out games by the dozen recently and Smoking Pistols, a Wild West-themed title, has some big boots to fill. Let’s find out if the cascading reels, megaways, replicating wilds, and many more features make it a good game to try out. 

The base game starts you off in a 6x4 grid with 4096 paylines. Despite the medium-high volatility, wins in the base game took a long time to get. During my playthrough, I was getting a win every 4 to 8 spins with roughly half of them resulting in further wins through the cascading reels. 

A major point to note is that the first few cascades are the hardest to land, after that the play area expands significantly alongside your paylines making wins much easier to get. The grid can go up to 6x8 with 262,144 paylines which is ideal for making bigger combinations. However, that is quite rare and overall the base game wasn’t very profitable in the long run. 

To aid you during the base game, you have charged wilds which come with numbers and contribute to one or more winning combinations during the spin. You can also land moving wilds which randomly move and leave a trail of wild symbols wherever they go for additional combinations. 

You also have wilds with multiplier symbols up to 10x. However, getting these symbols was much harder during my playthrough and I found the charged and moving wilds to be more common. 

On a lost round, the second chance feature can activate and randomly remove an entire row of symbols to make room for more. Although a good idea in theory, these are rare and often don’t lead to any meaningful wins from my experience. 

Finally, you have the free spins bonus game which can give you 10 to 25 spins depending on how many scatters you land. The free spins can also be retriggered with scatter symbols but I wouldn’t recommend setting out hope for that. 

I landed the free spins round twice during my playthrough and won between 10 to 15 spins which gave me between 6x to 45x returns. Although impressive at first glance, the wins didn’t justify the amount of spins that I had to go through just to enter the round. 

In a nutshell, despite having a solid base game and an admittedly fun free spins mini-game, I was not impressed by Smoking Pistols by Booming Games. The small and infrequent wins make it drain your bankroll quickly so I’d only recommend trying it out for free on our website and not playing it for real money.
