There are 6 reels in Zeus III, but the rows increase from 2 to 7 as you move left to right, giving the base game grid a unique look. With 192 fixed paylines, I thought landing winning combinations would be a breeze. However, I quickly learned that if I didn’t match symbols in the larger reels with the tiny 2-symbol reel on the left, I wasn’t walking away with a win. 

It added a bit more challenge than I expected, but wild reels came to the rescue, helping me score returns between 1.20x to 3.30x every 3 to 5 spins. Even regular wilds were a game-changer as just 2 or 3 of them could boost my wins up to 7.90x my bet, as I saw a few times during my playthrough.

Gathering thunderbolt symbols turned out to be a solid strategy, as landing 3 of them in a spin activated the free spins feature. The first time I triggered it, I was shocked to walk away with an impressive 37.30x win from just 10 spins! When I triggered it again for another 10 spins, I got a smaller but still decent 21.70x win. 

Although Zeus III had its exciting moments, it ultimately felt like a slot with average profit potential and outdated visuals. I did enjoy the unique reel setup and it was fun to explore, but that alone wasn’t enough to keep the game interesting for long. Personally, I won’t be coming back to this one.
