Speed Champion: A Crash Game With Three Cars in an Exciting Race
James Gibson rated this game:
4 out of 5
Crash games are great fun because they put a lot of power in the player’s hands. Speed Champion is one of the better crash games I’ve played because of its design, features, and gameplay. The premise is simple: there are three cars you can bet on, and each one sets off on a race into the distance. At any given time, any of the cars can explode and leave the race.
When playing Speed Champion, I liked the fact I could bet on up to three cars per round. This was great because it meant I could test out different strategies and it made each round unpredictable. I always bet on all three cars and at the start, I placed the same wager on each. My general strategy was to cash out one bet, wait a bit then cash out another and so on. The idea behind this was that by staggering the cashouts, I should hopefully recoup at least some money I’d spent on wagers.
I then decided to double the wager of one of the cars while sticking to the same strategy. Even though I had a few unlucky turns and generally played it safe, I ended up with a small profit by the time I was done playing the game.
Speed Champion’s graphics and animations were good, plus its sound effects fitted the game’s racing theme well. Its design was better than lots of other crash games. One thing I would criticize is the short betting phase, which lasted just five seconds. Yes, the game had autoplay options and you can bet on a car for the upcoming round once it crashes. But there were a few rounds where the cars crashed quite close together, so I had very little time to set my bets up. If the betting phase was extended to 10 seconds, it would be ideal.
Still, I would definitely recommend playing Speed Champion. With three cars to bet on, you can easily put different strategies into practice and see what works and what doesn’t. Just try to place your bets as soon as cars crash so you’re not rushing about during the betting
- Impressive design for a crash game
- Three cars to bet on
- Betting phase could be a bit longer
