Colosseum Riches Looked Majestic, but It Didn't Win Me Over

I played Colosseum Riches for quite some time and while it had a great first impression, it didn’t fully live up to its name. The theme is Roman Empire-inspired, and it delivers that clearly. You’ll see gladiator helmets, golden eagles, laurel wreaths, and the Colosseum itself dominating the reels. The visuals are clean and polished, with warm golden tones and a strong historical vibe. I did enjoy the way the high-paying symbols stood out, especially the Roman general and the emperor’s crest. Those felt like they had real weight.

The soundtrack is dramatic and orchestral, which fits the Roman setting well. It builds tension during spins and adds some excitement when you get close to triggering a bonus. I didn’t mute it, which is rare for me, so I’d consider that a win. The animations, though, felt a little flat. Wins don’t explode onto the screen like you’d expect. Even triggering the free spins felt underwhelming visually. A game based on gladiators and empire should feel more powerful.

When it comes to gameplay, I’d say it leans heavily on patience. I triggered the free spins feature once after about 140 spins. I received 10 free spins with a 3x multiplier. It sounds good on paper, but my total win was only 17x my bet. There were a few wilds and stacked symbols during the bonus, but nothing hit strong enough to make me feel excited. The base game was fairly quiet too. Most spins brought back small returns, with very few big hits.

To keep things moving, the game drops plenty of wilds and stacked wilds on the first reel. This helps a lot more than you’d think, since symbol payouts are not very high in the game. 

You can also land wins across multiple paylines, with the same or different symbols. On average, this gave me 0.40x to 2.26x payouts over my bet every few spins. Another interactive element is being able to stop each individual reel during a spin. While this sounds good on paper, the symbols inside the reels are barely visible when spinning so this felt more like a gimmick than an actual feature you can use strategically. 

Scatter symbols drop often just like wilds, and you only need three to trigger the free spins. The catch is that they only appear on the second, third, and fourth reels and award 10 spins. The bonus doesn’t bring any extra multipliers but I did notice an increase in wild reels during the round, which helped me make 20x to 33x returns on average. 

Hidden Treasures by 7Mojos won’t give you a feature-packed experience, but it does offer a solid gameplay loop with fair payouts. I would have liked to see multipliers on wilds, as the regular payouts feel a bit low. Still, the game has enough action and is beginner-friendly. Sugar Crush: A Sickly Sweet Slot With Not Much Going for It

There are lots of online slot games that are themed to sweets and are set in fantasy-style worlds. Sugar Crush is one of them, and it fits right in with the others thanks to its visually appealing design and the abundance of sweets and other treats you see on the reels.

However, I have to say that Sugar Crush wasn’t an enjoyable slot. Other sweet-themed games tend to have some exciting features - some of them have avalanches, for example. Sugar Crush just had a free spins round, and when I got to play it, I only won around 6x my bet from it, which wasn’t good at all. 

Plus, the free spins round didn’t even have any enhancers. It had a different background and there was a random flying unicorn beside the grid. I thought the unicorn would have done something, but it was just there for decoration. The free spins round was basically the same as the base game, except I wasn’t paying for the spins.

All in all, I wasn’t too impressed by Sugar Crush. I was hoping for more excitement and entertainment. If you’re thinking of playing this slot, I would suggest giving it a miss and trying one of the many other sweet-themed slots that have a lot going on.
