888 Software’s Panda Manga is set in the Asian countryside with a moonlit night and a bamboo forest as your background. For a slot that is over a decade old at this point, it still managed to hold my attention with fairly large symbol pays and free spins. Let me explain how! 

Seasoned slot gaming enthusiasts and veterans will find a simple base game in this slot with 5 reels, 3 rows, and 25 paylines. My playthrough started slowly with minor wins between 0.24x my bet to 0.60x my bet every 2 to 5 spins. This went on for about 40 or so spins after which I made a few decent wins around 4.20x to 8.40x my bet. 

The biggest win I made during the base game was about 12 times my bet thanks to a few wild symbols. In general, the gameplay here is very slow which is to be expected from a game so old but the wins didn’t add up to being significant at all which was quite disappointing. 

The only feature you get in this game is a basic free spin round which gets you 8 spins for landing 3 or more scatters with 8 additional spins if you land another 3 scatters during the bonus round. Although wilds were fairly common in the base game, I can’t say the same for scatters which made getting to the free spins bonus a chore. 

Furthermore, I wasn’t very impressed with the wins the first time I triggered the feature. I only got 12.40x returns which was decent but not enough to justify the time it took to trigger free spins. On my second trigger, I got much better returns coming in at 33x my bet which helped me curb my losses a little bit. 

With all that out of the way, Panda Manga had and still has impressive payouts on the surface but getting to them got tedious fairly quickly. I would not recommend playing this game for the very same reason, the gameplay becomes dull very quickly without big wins and you don’t get any features in the base game to look forward to either.

Although the base game had some decent payouts, making a profit wasn’t going to be easy here. Most wins are relatively small often lower than the bet itself making regular spins slightly unprofitable unless you land a few wilds for that 2x win multiplier. With just a single wild symbol helping me, I was able to make a few wins up to 8.40x my bet! 

Coming to the free spins feature, they are triggered by landing between 3 to 5 wilds and give you between 15 to 50 spins based on how many wild symbols you have landed. It isn’t going to be easy to trigger this feature though because multiple scatters rarely drop down the reels. I was only able to activate the feature once and with 15 free spins, I managed to get 23x returns. 

Players who want simple gameplay and impactful wins might just find the Ultimate Universe slot game right up their alley. For others who want something more, I’d recommend taking a look at some of the newer entries from our list of titles.
