The game is set around a 9-reel and 9-row square-shaped grid with cluster pays instead of traditional paylines and cascading reels. To form winning combinations, you need six or more matching symbols to land touching each other horizontally or vertically, anywhere on the grid. With each winning cluster, the winning symbols are taken out and replaced with new ones that tumble down. 

Most symbol combinations on their own got me between 0.20x to 1x returns over my bet. Landing these winning combos only took me two to four spins which made the gameplay fun for a while. Regular symbol combinations may not have the heft you’re looking for and that’s why the game drops generous multiplier bombs in the base game between 2x to 3x. With these multipliers, I was able to land wins between two to five times my bet. 

There are two ways of reaching the bonus game of the slot, either land three or more scatter symbols or when the gumdrop counter reaches 25. While I enjoyed the gumdrop counter go down and the game telling me about my progress often, I found landing scatters was the more reliable way to enter the bonus. The round itself is a classic hold-and-win bonus played on a smaller 5x4 reel grid with cash prizes and jackpots. 

I was able to land cash symbols between 1x to 10x during the bonus, and even without hitting a jackpot, scored 36x returns with ease. On later triggers, I managed returns up to 80x, which made the playthrough feel much more rewarding.

Mega Crush by Arrow’s Edge is well worth trying if you miss the Candy Crush craze in slots.
