Original Roulette: An Average Spin on a Casino Classic
Vlad Baciu rated this game:
3 out of 5
I took a seat at the virtual roulette table in Original Roulette by Barcrest Games, and I'm here to share my thoughts. This game brings the classic roulette experience to your screen, offering standard inside and outside bets like red or black, odd or even, split, street, or corner. Place your bets, spin the wheel, and hope that luck is on your side. Original Roulette also introduces the Racetrack view, allowing you to place Neighbor Bets, which adds a layer of complexity to the game.
The game includes features like Remove Chips, Last Bet, and Remove All, giving you some level of control over your bets. However, one aspect that didn't sit well with me was the bet adjustment method. You have to use the Stake button with three preset options - Low, Med, and High - and click multiple times to reach your desired bet. It felt a bit cumbersome, and the absence of an Undo button meant that fixing a mistake required clearing that field and starting over, which proved inconvenient.
Graphically, Original Roulette falls a bit short of modern standards. The animations lack realism and appear to be low in framerate. The overall design feels outdated, making it look unimpressive. While it's far from the worst I've seen, it's certainly not the best.
The sound design, too, leaves room for improvement. I appreciated the dealer's voice and most of the sound effects, but the absence of music left me feeling less immersed in the gaming experience. The attempt at spatial sound for the spinning roulette ball didn't quite hit the mark either, resulting in a mismatched audio experience.
On the positive side, the user interface is mostly intuitive and user-friendly. It's easy to customize your gaming experience, from making Split, Row, or Corner bets by clicking on the lines to switching between the main table and the neighbor bet section. However, an Undo button would be a welcome addition, and having more options for placing bets instead of being limited to the Stake button would enhance gameplay.
In conclusion, Original Roulette by Barcrest Games offers a standard roulette experience with a good range of betting options. However, it falls short in graphics and sound design, lacking essential functionalities and a modern feel. I won't rush to recommend it, as there are more appealing roulette games out there, but it might still appeal to some players.
- Wide betting variety
- Accessible user interface
- Good sound effects
- Roulette racetrack
- Outdated graphics
- Limited bet adjustment options
- Poor sound design
