Starting with the mechanics, Devil’s Lock is set in a standard 5-reel and 3-row layout with 40 paylines and low volatility. After playing the game for an hour or so, I found that most wins in the base game bring in between 0.45x to 2.2x returns every few spins. Bigger wins between 6.36x to 9.40x my bet were also possible during my playthrough thanks to the devil wild and 5 matching symbols. 

The first feature I managed to trigger was the free spins mini-game. Activation of this feature is tied to the piggy banks on top of the reels and each time you land a wild symbol in the center of the grid, your chances of getting the 6 free spins increase. I was able to trigger this feature 4 times in total and get between 12x to 33.75x wins which helped me keep my bankroll intact. 

The second feature that I had to wait a fairly long time for was the Devil’s Lock bonus. During regular spins in the base game, there’s a chance to trigger locked symbols that contain coin symbols with instant prizes and the four jackpots I mentioned previously. If you get the locked symbols you must also land a devil wild in the center of the grid to unlock these symbols. 

Once unlocked, you also have a chance to increase a win multiplier available during this bonus and significantly increase your wins. I was able to get between 35x to 59x returns using this feature which was the reason I made a small profit by the time my playthrough was over. You don’t get a bonus buy option but I didn’t feel like it was necessary here as the gameplay is fairly action-packed.
