Coin UP Hot Fire: Giant Flaming Jackpot Symbols With 500x Returns

Coin UP Hot Fire by Booongo might have been a novel concept at first glance but the game has some minor issues that I saw firsthand after playing it. The bright graphics, smooth animations, and fire burning all around make for a compelling look but the slot fundamentally fails due to the execution.

Set in a 3x3 grid, Coin UP Hot Fire takes a page out of Wazdan’s book by removing the symbol pays. The symbols in the base game are only there for you to trigger the bonus game which is done by landing 3 symbols on the middle reel.

The smaller play area makes reaching the bonus round much harder and it took me over 20 spins to get to it when I first booted up the game. The developers have brought a sticky symbol worth 5x returns to help you get to the bonus game quicker but in my case, it didn’t help much.

Coming to the bonus game itself, I found that I was getting there every 12 to 18 spins. Getting all regular symbols without the jackpot symbols got me between 12 to 20x returns which was handy but not enough to earn back my bet amount. 

You also have the multi-up feature which awards an entire row a multiplier bonus and the coin-up feature which increases the value of coin symbols by +1. Although they sound great in theory, the multi-up and coin-up features mostly landed on reels that had a stack of low-paying coins during my playthrough.

There’s an additional feature in the bonus game called coin collect which is the hardest to trigger. It gathers up all the symbol values and sticks to the reels until the bonus game. After testing the feature out multiple times, I noticed a 5x to 8x increase in returns whenever it landed.

Getting a jackpot symbol on the reels gets you between 25x to 60x returns which is much higher but getting the bigger jackpot symbols would be a major challenge. During my playthrough, I landed several minor jackpot symbols worth 20x the bet and mini jackpot symbols worth 10x the bet but couldn’t get higher jackpot symbols to land.

You also have the option to skip the base game and rush directly to the bonus round with the bonus buy button. It offers you a regular bonus without jackpot symbols for 40x your bet and a bonus round with jackpots for 75x your bet.

Once again my returns when buying the bonus round varied between 12x to 24x without jackpot symbols and between 40x to 60x with jackpot symbols which wasn’t enough to justify its use.
