Mighty Kraken is a five-reel slot that has a nautical charm with a touch of mystery. Did I find a treasure chest while spinning its reels? Let's find out.

I started off betting the minimum and won small amounts during the first few spins. It's got 5 fixed paylines, so it was a no-brainer for me to follow where the wins were coming from.

However, there are no bonus rounds or free spins. A bit of a bummer, right? But the game has got a wild, which is an octopus that appears on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th reels. 

It doesn't replace the two scatters – a harpoon and a ship. The scatters only show up on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th reels.

The Double Up feature is the brightest feature of all. It kicks in after a win that's less than 10 times the total bet, offering a shot to double or even quadruple your prize. 

You may give it a pass and keep spinning the reels, or you may click on the blinking 'Double Up' icon on the bottom-left of the game screen to start gambling. 

Once you opt for it, the game lets you bet your winnings on a separate card game. If you guess the right color of the card from a red and a black card, you double your winnings.

If you guess the right suit of the card, you quadruple your winnings. But if you guess wrong, you lose what you won. I tried making the correct guess and won nothing most of the time.

But the tides turned in favor of me a couple of times. On one occasion, I even won 64x my bet amount. That is the highest amount you can win with the Double Up, and I had to go back to the main screen to resume spinning the reels.

However, the absence of a turbo or speed spin option meant the gameplay felt slower than I prefer. I eventually set it on autoplay and watched the reels spin at a consistent pace.

Overall, Mighty Kraken is a simple slot game. It's good if you like easy games and don't need lots of extra features. The best part is the Double Up feature, where you can try to increase your winnings.
