The base game grid comes with 5 reels and 4 rows that are weaved together by 50 fixed paylines and high volatility. Symbol combos landed during regular spins also disappear, making room for new symbols to cascade in. These cascading reels can go from 0 to 60 in no time. In some spins, I’d make wins as small as 0.40x to 0.60x my bet whereas some other spins would cascade into wins up to 5x my bet. 

That said, most wins only took me a couple of spins or so to land thanks to the high number of paylines and wild drops. This combination even made me a small profit at one point in the base game. However, that didn’t last long and soon enough I was itching to get to the free spins bonus game I’ve talked about above. 

All you need to trigger the bonus game is land between 3 to 5 scatter symbols after which you’ll get between 8 to 15 spins with the Expanding River Wilds feature. For an extra 3x bet, you can also 3x the potential returns, but is the game worth it? In my opinion, let me tell you why it wasn’t worth playing below. 

You start the game with a 3-reel box that has a single payline to make wins. Despite the medium volatility claimed by the software provider, I found wins came every 7 to 15 bets which was quite a long time. Furthermore, the win amounts usually came between 5x to 15x returns with 25x returns coming along rarely. 

Although you can increase the bet amount by changing the lines on the right side of the reels, it didn’t affect the frequency of wins at all in my case. I would only recommend selecting the coin bet 3 line if you are going to lower your regular bet amount in return. 

Overall, the Fortune Dragon slot game feels lacking not just in terms of features but also the payouts. In the long run, you really need to be lucky to make a profit and from my testing, a quick string of 10 to 12 spins without wins can happen at any time to drain out the small win you’d make in the end.
