Alchemist Reels: Do Not Judge a Potion by Its Bottle

While I like the theme Genii used as an inspiration for Alchemist Reels, the presentation left me wanting more. The grid feels incomplete, like a lab stocked with potions but missing its alchemist. Every symbol is a colored bottle, no characters, no story, just glass on shelves. The fantasy market demands more, but the concept and mechanics have plenty to offer beyond the packaging.
RTP and volatility are both undisclosed, but based on my session, I would place this around medium, with frequent wins and manageable swings. Fifty paylines cross a 5-reel grid where every win triggers a Cascade that shatters the bottles and drops new ones from above, pushing the multiplier from x1 to x2 to x4 to x8.
The Wild is a red crystal flask that explodes up to eight surrounding bottles to clear room for fresh drops. Three yellow Scatters activate 8 Free Falls, and an Extra Falls Scatter inside the feature can retrigger up to 15 more.
Three matching potions paid between 0.5x and 1x on roughly every third spin, which is steady, but flat.
The cascades were a different story, and they showed up even more often. And that’s rare. One spin matched olive bottles on the left that shattered into a purple line at x2 for 4.5x combined.
A few rounds later, the Wild flask exploded five bottles in the center, reshuffled greens across two rows, and cascaded into blue diamonds at x2 for 5.2x my stake. My best chain started as a quiet yellow match, ran through green at x2, then dropped reds at x4 and turned a forgettable spin into 3.8x.
Overall, I honestly didn’t expect much from a grid that looked like a stockroom. The cascades proved me wrong, the multiplier gave every chain weight, and the session outperformed its own packaging.
I think that the presentation won't stay with me, but constant wins across a full session absolutely will.
PROS - Cascade multiplier climbs to x8
- Wild explodes surrounding symbols to extend chains
- Free Falls with retrigger option
CONS - Presentation lacks polish
- No memorable hits
Thorns and Treasures
The 5x3 mechanics are smooth. Triggered the respins but the total payout wasn't huge. Hits are a bit spaced out for a fairy tale theme. It’s an alright slot, just nothing groundbreaking.
Harlequin Royale
Harlequin Royale keeps things very simple, which can be refreshing. The scatter payouts are a nice touch and can give small boosts, but overall the game lacks depth. It’s fine for short sessions, though it doesn’t hold attention long.
Thorns and Treasures
My session had zero momentum and wasn't entertaining. It’s frustrating to lose more than you get back on a hit. The vibe here is just off and the whole experience was a total letdown.
Big Game Christmas
On paper, the RTP and features seem fine, but in practice, it’s disappointing. Long dry spells in the base game and low-value bonuses made it hard to stay engaged. Not terrible, just not worth long sessions.
Harlequin Royale
The mechanics are basic, and the hits barely cover the bet. I just got a €10 win on a €10 spin, which is basically a loss in disguise. Not seeing much potential here.
Golden Gator Mega Reel
Wins like the 30.00 shown here help maintain balance for a bit, especially with Wilds involved. However, they don’t offset the long dry spells. It feels balanced for a 3/5, but not very engaging overall.
