Aztec Gems: Snag Some Aztec Bling

We’re heading back to the prosperous years of the Aztec Empire with this slot. The main symbols in the game are all gems, and they are only differentiated by shape and color. The red ruby is the most valuable symbol, while the yellow one has the lowest reward. Aztec Gems seems to be set in a forested section of Mexico. Waterfalls and bright bugs decorate the background of the game. I was further impressed by the Aztec engravings on the reels. 

The only disappointing thing about the theme is the generic soundtrack. It doesn’t reflect the Aztec theme and sounds like it could fit any classic fruit slot. 

In my experience, the game is mostly monotonous. This is made worse by the fact that the symbols are similar and quickly get boring. 

Occasionally, a wild symbol will land on the reels (represented by a golden mask). This symbol comes stacked and replaces other icons to create winning combinations. I was able to score some of my biggest wins thanks to the wild. 

The highlight of the game is the 4th reel, which carries multipliers. This goes up to 15X. The multiplier reel spins along with the rest of the reels, and in my experience, it mostly lands on 2X or 5X. Any reward you get in the spin will be further boosted by the multiplier. 

To sum up, Aztec Gems is a fairly monotonous game. I liked the multiplier as it can attract big wins, and the wild symbol also helps to make winning combinations. However, I was disappointed since there are no bonus games or free spins. Although the game features sharp artwork, the symbols are similar-looking and don’t help to keep the game exciting. The soundtrack is also generic and not fit for the Aztec theme.
