Wonders of Aztec Slot Review & Free Play

Wonders of Aztec: Follow the Warrior Queen Into the Jungle for Up to 10,000x Rewards

A beautiful warrior queen welcomes us to Wonders of Aztec by Pragmatic Play, where temples, waterfalls, and lily pads surround a six-by-five grid. While we enjoy this idyllic scene, we also get to chase multipliers up to 128x, up to 30 free spins, and a 10,000x max win.

However, starting from the base game, it felt like all this beauty was designed to enchant me into forgetting how unprofitable my session was. I landed minor wins every seven to 20 spins, mostly around 1x my bet.

The first set of those features are regular and super scatters. Both can land anywhere on the grid. Besides being necessary for triggering the bonus, they also pay as regular symbols, up to 100x the bet for six. Super scatters work the same, but one in the triggering combo turns the bonus into Super Free Spins that start with bombs already placed.

Another one is the bomb, along with the super bomb. These golden suns can drop during spins and tumbles, but they only wake up if that spin has a win. A regular bomb adds 2x to the multiplier above its reel or doubles it, while a super one does it to every reel, all up to 128x. Once the tumbles stop, the reel multipliers add up and multiply the whole win. Every time I'd land them, the warrior girl would cheer, but each time for nothing in the end.

Lastly, if you land four, five or six scatters, you can get 10, 20 or 30 free spins. Here, the reel multipliers stay put all round, though they only count on spins where a bomb lands. Four or more scatters during the round add five more spins.

Since the playthrough was so uneventful, I decided to use one of many options, and paid 100x my bet to try my luck with free spins, and got the lowest number. With five additional free spins for three more scatters, a lot of high-paying combos, and the highest multiplier of 34x, I ended the round with a massive 336x return.

Overall, if this were a real session played with real money, I'd say I managed to escape the balance drainage by the skin of my teeth thanks to the free spins.
