Guardian of Luxor 2: Ancient Egypt With a Twist

I wanted to play an Egyptian slot with a different approach, so I decided to try Guardians of Luxor 2. It is dark, kind of eerie, imagine a Nitropolis of Egyptian slots.

I like the ambiance overall, even if some may find it scary. The sounds bring the game to life, if I may say, and the graphics and animations are top-notch.

Some small features trigger randomly, with one big Scarab on the middle reel, which will give us the respin bonus. It triggered a lot during my playthrough, and I managed to get some substantial wins. Also, the Wheel bonus was triggering pretty often, sometimes I didn’t even notice it popping, as I was on autoplay trying to fill the meter - which we will get to later. Wheels gave me lots of smaller wins, but they made a difference, so overall the bonuses were worth it.

There was also an Osiris Wild which was lucrative for me. Once Osiris landed in the middle, it would expand, triggering wins, and also respin. I found this interesting and nice, it’s good to see lots of features on a slot.

Now, about that meter on the left side... God, this really reminded me of Loco Habanero, and let me tell you, Loco Habanero gave me anxiety. But the mechanism is the same - I ran out of funds before getting halfway through the meter. Which was… frustrating. I really wanted to know what it does! So, I checked the paytable. It is called the “Horus Progress Bar”. It launches a mini game after… quote… 100 non-winning spins. I can’t say anything about it, as I didn’t manage to trigger it, even with the minimum bet. This game has one more Horus mini game, but it didn’t trigger for me either.

All in all, for Ancient Egypt fans, this game may be an experience. But, at the end of the day, it is tiring, and if you are playing to trigger the progress bar… it is just not worth it. And let me tell you, these Horus features show first, once starting the game, as an intro. So… why would Red Rake market some features that are almost impossible to trigger without running out of funds? No idea. But I don’t appreciate it.
