Once I landed all three scatter symbols, I got my 10 free spins, and a new symbol called boost was unlocked. Landing this symbol on the fifth reel transforms all high-paying symbols into spirit symbols with bigger payouts. Despite not landing the boost symbol, I still managed to get a 29.50x payout from the bonus game.

The slot features an intriguing 8x8 grid, with 6x6 spaces initially active. Each successful winning combination and cascade unlocks an additional reel or row. To score a win, you need to match four or more identical symbols either horizontally or vertically. During my playthrough, I was making returns between 0.50x and 2.50x on average every 2 to 4 spins. 

With three or more cascades, I was able to unlock most of the reels which helped me achieve up to 7x wins. These occasional bigger wins helped me protect my bankroll and keep looking for seven or more cascades which was the way into the Wasabi Heat bonus feature of the slot. Gettiung the feature to trigger was quite tricky as despite having a large grid to play around with, landing clusters consistently per cascade was a major hurdle for me. 

Wild symbols would cme around every now and then and help me create a few extra winning combinations. However, they would only remain sticky for the first cascade which made subsequent triggers much less likely to score a win. At any rate, I was able to trigger the Wasabi Heat feature at the tail end of my session and I was awarded three free spins and four sticky wilds. 

These wilds helped a little but by this point my bankroll needed a large payout in order to make a profit. Unfortunately, I made a small 19.50x win from the round even though it had some interesting features in store such as added wilds and the possibility to win extra free spins. 

All in all, the Wasabi Wilds slot definitely has a lot going for it but its mechanics hold it back significantly. I would have liked to see permanently sticky wild symbols in the bonus game or a few multipliers to even the odds. In its current state, Silverback Gaming’s Wasabi Wilds slot game does not earn my approval.

I still decided to give it a shot and it took me between 4 to 8 spins just to land symbol combinations worth a measly 0.50x to 1.50x my bet. With such a slow start, I was losing my bankroll fast and I turned to the scatters hoping that I’d trigger the free spins quickly. 

There was a gamble feature present in the game but the odds of winning were so low that it felt more of a liability than a risk worth taking from time to time. The feature isn’t there for multiple wins from symbols, it lets you gamble to trigger the free spins or the Book of Midas feature. 

I landed three golden hand symbols and entered the free spins bonus round with 10 spins. Aptly named the Midas Touch Free Spins, the round started promisingly with three sticky golden wild symbols that got me a bit excited. Unfortunately, the results didn’t live up to expectations, and I only secured a small 18.30x return from the feature. I triggered the bonus a few more times during my session, but my best win was a minor 32x payout.

I also triggered the Hands of Midas feature, which activates randomly and turns one to three symbols into cash prizes. While it’s a nice addition, the wins rarely exceeded 5x to 10x my bet, making it feel more like a gimmick than a game-changer. Unfortunately, this feature is absent during the free spins bonus, which could have significantly improved the payouts and made the round much more rewarding. 

With significant losses to my bankroll, it’s safe to say I was not impressed with the Midas Book of Alchemy slot by Silverback Gaming. I wanted to enjoy this game, as it features clean graphics and some potentially profitable mechanics. However, the limited profitability and low RTP ultimately make it a game I wouldn’t recommend playing.
