Dice by Spribe: A Gamble Without the Roll
Vlad Baciu rated this game:
3 out of 5
I played "Dice" by Spribe with high hopes of a thrilling dice-based game. However, right from the start, I was puzzled by the absence of actual dice. The gameplay involves setting your bet amount and adjusting a chance slider, which affects the number ranges you're betting on—lower and higher. After that, you just click on one of the 2 ranges and hope that the randomly generated number is inside of it. If you move the chance slider past 50 percent, the two ranges overlap, increasing your odds of winning. I know, it doesn’t sound like much fun and spoiler alert: it isn’t!
The graphics in Dice are plain and lack any distinctive personality, leaving me wondering why the game is called "Dice" when there are no dice to be seen anywhere. There's minimal animation, with the only notable movement being a circle that represents the generated number.
On the positive side, I found the sound effects surprisingly good! When you generate a number, the circle moves along the slider, accompanied by satisfying audio cues. However, the absence of music is noticeable and adds to the overall lackluster experience.
The user interface is easy to navigate after you’re reading the instructions, because I must say, the first time I opened up the game I was confused about what is the goal and what I’m supposed to do. Despite that, I have to appreciate the responsive design and clean layout.
In conclusion, "Dice" by Spribe falls short of my expectations. While the gameplay mechanics are simple and potentially enjoyable for those seeking a quick wagering fix, the lack of dice-related elements, uninspiring graphics, and absence of music leave much to be desired. With a bit more polish and personality, it could become a more engaging experience.
- Clean & responsive design
- Good sound effects
- Lucrative
- Misleading title
