Amar Akbar Anthony: This Card Game Is Simple But Very Fun!

Amar Akbar Anthony is a card game that’s based on the 1977 Hindi film of the same name. The premise of the game is straightforward: you have to predict which of three characters a card belongs to. It belongs to Amar if it’s A, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6; Akbar if it’s 7, 8, 9, or 10; or Anthony if it’s J, Q, or K.

What I liked about the game was that it was very easy to play, yet there was enough room to try out a range of different betting strategies. Each round, there was the option to bet on a single character, two characters, or even all three of them. I decided that for my playthrough, I would concentrate on betting on two characters at a time to give myself a decent amount of coverage. I rotated through the characters quite frequently, bearing in mind that Amar was the most likely bet to win since it covered the most card ranks (six) out of the three bets.

There was also the option to increase my bets by 50% and have each of the bet’s payout rate increased by a random amount. I took advantage of this later on in my playthrough and thought it was a good addition to the gameplay. If you want to try out this feature, I suggest playing Amar Akbar Anthony for free first. My only criticism is that the betting phase was too short. It lasted 10 seconds, which was enough time to place multiple bets, but not enough to place bets of different sizes. If you want to do this, you’ll have to be very quick! Still, I very much enjoyed playing Amar Akbar Anthony and thought it was a surprisingly good card game.
