Joker Coins Expanded by TaDa Gaming attempted to revive the classic-themed slot while mixing in modern mechanics and a 5,000x max win. Beside the reels, the distant cousin of Harlequin, guarding four jackpots worth up to 1,000x my bet. However, this trickster clearly knew how to keep me away from those rewards for quite some time.

This slot features a 3-reel setup with a 3-5-3 layout, offering 45 ways to win. In simple terms, landing at least three matching symbols across the reels almost secures a payout every time. The grid is filled with classic fruits, bells, bars, and the traditional lucky sevens acting as wilds.

That said, the real focus of the game lies in its collection mechanic and the Joker Coin symbols carrying multipliers of up to 10x in the base game. Throughout my session, I was landing regular wins every 4 to 5 spins, with average returns between 1x and 2x my bet.

Most of my strong payouts came from the collection feature. The collector symbol only appears on the middle reel, while the coin symbols land on the outer reels. Through this setup, I managed to hit wins of 10x, 16x, and 20x my bet during the base game. 

On one occasion, I landed two collector symbols alongside a Mini Jackpot symbol on the third reel, which rewarded me with a 30x return.

If you land the collector symbol together with coin symbols on the other reels, you trigger the Hold and Spin feature. During my 200+ spin session, I managed to enter the bonus round four times and came away with returns of 32x, 42x, 28x, and 62x my bet.

In my opinion, Joker Coins Expanded ticks most of the important boxes a good slot should cover. Personally, I think expanding wilds would have suited this setup perfectly. Even so, this remains one of the few circus-themed slots where I could see myself returning for another session.
