Book of Xerxes - Diamond Treasures: Don't Expect Special Features to Trigger Often

Book of Xerxes - Diamond Treasure has a tense, atmospheric soundtrack, an ancient temple setting, and detailed design throughout. It’s a well-presented slot that draws you in, though its gameplay, based on my experience, doesn’t match the hype.

This was because of how the base game was and the lack of special feature triggers. In the base game, I didn’t land any major payouts, partly because of the fact that there were only 10 paylines in play. I still won now and then, but nothing significant.

The free spins round didn’t trigger on its own. Near the end of my playthrough, I decided to buy it for the cost of 90x my bet. It had a special expanding symbol that could pay on non-consecutive reels as well as consecutive ones.

Despite this, I only won around 45x my bet, half the cost I’d paid to play the round. I should mention Diamond Treasures, an optional feature that increases your bet for a chance of Diamond Treasures triggering.

If this came into play, a four-reel, one-row slot span, with numbers revealing a multiplier. Unfortunately, the feature never launched. There were four settings, with more expensive ones more likely to trigger Diamond Treasures.

I stuck with the default option, the second one, which doubled my base bet. Having tried Diamond Treasures slots previously, I didn’t fancy paying even more when no trigger of the feature was guaranteed, and I was already losing money anyway.

While I liked the look of Book of Xerxes - Diamond Treasures, I wasn’t lucky enough to benefit from its Diamond Treasures feature and the free spins round was a loss maker. If you decide to play, try the demo and experiment with Diamond Treasure settings first.
