There’s a massive 7x7 grid with cascading reels and cluster pays in the base game of this slot which makes for an action-packed base game. When I started spinning the reels, I made between 0.40x to 2.60x returns on my bet every 3 to 5 spins with a few combos getting up to 9.65x my bet thanks to multiplier spots. 

After two symbol combinations pass through the same spot on the grid, a 2x multiplier is added to that spot for the rest of the round. If more symbols land on the same spot and form winning combos, the multiplier increases by 2x each time. This mechanic was key to making the base game fairly profitable for me as I regularly pushed up to 4x multipliers once in a while. 

My luck was turning slowly as soon after a few lost spins, three scatter symbols tumbled down the grid and got me a ticket to the free spins bonus game. I started with 10 spins where multiplier positions are not reset after each spin which felt like big wins were just around the corner. However, the first time I triggered the feature I only made a tiny 5.20x win. 

Triggering the feature again took more than just elbow grease and I had to keep spinning the reels for an additional half an hour. By the time I finally triggered the feature and received another 10 free spins, I had already taken a small loss that I was eager to recover. Fortunately, my luck turned during the round, with 16x multipliers appearing in two spots, helping me secure a decent 31.50x win.

That wrapped up my playthrough of Hot Hot Balloons. Despite being a new entry from Armadillo Studios, the game has decent potential for profitability hidden beneath its simple gameplay. Don’t let the "simple gameplay" tag fool you though, the mechanics and features here are solid and definitely worth trying in my opinion.
