MonkeyPop 2: Trigger the Expanding Reels and Chase 10,000x Your Bet

MonkeyPop 2 by AvatarUX is the follow-up to MonkeyPop, keeping the same Japanese watercolor look while tweaking how the game actually behaves. At first glance, it looks almost identical, but with a higher 10,000x potential return. I played it expecting an upgrade. What I got was familiar, with a few trade-offs.

The slot runs on a five-reel layout that can grow from 3 up to 9 rows using AvatarUX’s PopWins mechanic. Wins pop, symbols split, and multipliers climb. Expanding reels are also there to hype up your winning.

Wins only count when you land three identical symbols on adjacent reels. The base-game RTP I played sat at 95.88%, paired with high volatility. Dry spells are common, as it took me 15 dry spins before landing my first win.

In the base game, my biggest hit was 22x my bet. The bonus round didn’t come quickly either; it showed up after roughly 40 spins and paid 58.40x. Not bad, but not something that makes you forget the wait. The expanding reels do help form new and rewarding combinations, but they don’t translate into strong payouts due to low symbol payouts.

Feature-wise, you get PopWins, Monkey’s Blessings, free spins, and optional buy-ins. Monkey’s Blessings can expand the grid instantly and activate a growing multiplier. In my case, it was a 12x multiplier. Free spins are triggered by three scatters and come with a gamble option that lets you risk your wins. I stayed conservative as I wasn’t in the mood to donate all my winnings back.

You can also ante or buy the bonus outright, scaling all the way up to a 500x buy for a maxed-out bonus. Personally, I’m not a fan of buying into features in games this volatile, and I wouldn’t recommend you do so.

In short, MonkeyPop 2 is tougher than it appears. The 10,000x win potential is real, yet reaching anything close to that requires patience, timing, and luck lining up perfectly. Compared to the original, the mechanics feel slightly stripped back, which makes the sequel less exciting than it should be.
