Hit the Crown Hold and Spin: Don't Expect Much From This Classic Slot

There are loads of modern online slots that are inspired by classic games, and Hit the Crown Hold and Spin from Barbara Games is one of them. It uses a 3x3 grid, has just five paylines, and comes with a respin feature with cash prizes and four jackpots up for grabs. Like many other classic slots, it has a general sort of fruit theme.

When playing Hit the Crown Hold and Spin, I was hoping to trigger the respin feature and see what it was like. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen during my playthrough. There were several spins where I came close to triggering it, but I never got the other coin symbol I needed. It was a shame because getting to play it would have made the slot more enjoyable.

The base game was all right. I won 10x my bet a few times and even won 15x once, but the rest of my payouts weren’t anything significant. Wilds appeared every so often and helped me win. One thing I didn’t like was that whenever a coin symbol landed, it seemed to be added to the pile of coins on top of the grid. This was purely cosmetic, but it may lead some players to think that each coin has a chance of triggering a feature, when in fact it doesn’t.

I also thought the slot could have done with more than five paylines. With a 3x3 grid, there was only room for 27 ways to win, but a few more wouldn’t have hurt. On the plus side, I won a few cash prizes from the collection feature during the base game. Again though, it was disappointing that the main respin feature didn’t come into play.
