River Dragons: Defeat Elemental Dragons and Climb the Tallest Mountains for Free Spins with Expanding Wilds

River Dragons is a fairly vintage slot title by Genesis Gaming that brings an Asian-themed experience coupled with impressive symbol pays and up to 15 free spins with expanding wilds. Simple mechanics and gameplay aside, the slot also comes with a unique art style symbolized by the four elemental dragons on the screen which is why I decided to check it out. 

The base game grid comes with 5 reels and 4 rows that are weaved together by 50 fixed paylines and high volatility. Symbol combos landed during regular spins also disappear, making room for new symbols to cascade in. These cascading reels can go from 0 to 60 in no time. In some spins, I’d make wins as small as 0.40x to 0.60x my bet whereas some other spins would cascade into wins up to 5x my bet. 

That said, most wins only took me a couple of spins or so to land thanks to the high number of paylines and wild drops. This combination even made me a small profit at one point in the base game. However, that didn’t last long and soon enough I was itching to get to the free spins bonus game I’ve talked about above. 

All you need to trigger the bonus game is land between 3 to 5 scatter symbols after which you’ll get between 8 to 15 spins with the Expanding River Wilds feature. This feature is key to the bonus game being profitable as it makes each wild symbol you land to expand to cover the entire reel it occupies. 

Thanks to a few well-placed expanding wild symbols, I was able to push my wins during the free spins bonus up to a massive 67.40x my bet. This not only made the River Dragons slot game profitable but a classic among Genesis Gaming titles that I’d recommend you try out as well!
