Hoppily Ever After by Light & Wonder drops you into a world ruled by three cute bunnies searching for carrots in the wild. With three jackpots up to 5,000x your bet, and up to 40 free spins, it didn’t take me long to get attached to this fairytale grid. 

As soon as you open this game, you come across a five-reel slot with a 3 - 4 - 5 - 4 - 3 layout and 720 ways to win. The grid is filled with rabbits, carrots, tulips, and multiplier eggs. The volatility is high, so naturally, not everything goes on you side.

I was landing wins every 3 to 4 spins, but the payouts stayed on the lower side. My average returns ranged between 0.60x and 0.90x my bet during most of the session. With such low symbol payouts, I really didn’t expect much from the base game. 

So naturally, everything starts to revolve around the egg symbols and their mechanics. These eggs carry multipliers up to 100x and stick on reels for three spins. In my case, I saw the multipliers going up to 25x my bet, not more than that. If a reel fills completely with eggs, it triggers the Cash Falls feature and pays all values.

Some of these eggs also unlock different bonus features. The Blue Egg awards between 9 and 40 free spins, depending on how it lands. The Yellow Egg triggers Jackpot Free Spins with jackpots going up to 5,000x your bet. The Pink Egg activates a feature where symbols pay between 1x and 7x your bet during spins.

It didn’t take too long for me to trigger the first bonus round. After around 30 spins, I landed the Blue Egg feature with 40 free spins. That round returned 42.60x my bet, which felt a bit underwhelming for that many spins.

I also managed to trigger the Yellow Egg feature once. It gave me 10 free spins with jackpot symbols landing across the grid. I ended that round with a 20x return and just one symbol away from the 5,000x jackpot, which broke my spirit.

By the end of my session, the structure felt feature-heavy but not consistently rewarding. So while Hoppily Ever After looks like a fairytale on the surface, it doesn’t always end like one.
