As the bats passed me by, I was face to face with a familiar sight, five reels, three rows, and 243 win lines connecting them. Within my first few spins, I landed a 6x win, which was an excellent start to my session. More wins would follow, but I’d generally have to wait between four to six spins for them. Sometimes they were as low as 1x my bet, and at other times went up to 7.50x. 

Throughout these spins, I was watching glimpses of gold nuggets, the same ones that carry cash prizes within them. They were usually between 0.50x to 2x my bet, so nothing major, but I did not see a minecart to store them in until around spin 30. That’s when a minecart, which acts as the game’s collect symbol, dropped down the reels to scoop up gold nuggets worth 4.50x my bet. 

I did not see more coins and minecarts until a few minutes later, when I landed four gold cash symbols and a minecart, which transported me to the Hold and Win bonus directly. The round brought me three re-spins, which could be re-triggered with a new gold symbol drop and green gems, which can multiply the cash prizes within gold nuggets. None of these symbols are sticky though, except the collect symbol. 

In my first trigger, I landed a 2x multiplier early, along with a 5x and 4x multiplier right after it, which got me 28.80x wins in just the first two spins! By the time my session ended, I had a massive 22x, the catch was that multipliers don’t apply to every single gold nugget unless you actively land a multiplier gem in that round. 

Other than that, the round ended up making me 74.20x wins. Another interesting point you should remember is that only gold nuggets re-trigger the spins, landing only multiplier gems will count as a dead spin. There is a bonus buy worth 100x your bet, but I didn’t find it very useful in my session. 

By the time I made my exit from the mines of the Rock and Riches Hold and Win free demo by Novomatic, I had made a small profit of 45x my bet. The slot definitely has big winning potential with its 5,000x max win, but getting there won’t be very easy.
