Diamond Style by Onlyplay is one of those slots that looks simple but hides layered mechanics under its five-row, three-reel retro grid. There are four bet tiers, wilds with multipliers up to x5, a free spins round with added retriggers, and prizes up to 2,000x your bet.

Onlyplay builds this one in levels, and each one turns on more options for profit. The first one keeps it bare with only regular symbols in play, the second wakes up the wilds, and the third brings the Diamonds.

The fourth flips the last switch and, besides everything the previous ones had, activates the Super Cashpot, which opens the full Diamond ladder. From there, any five or more Diamonds on the grid pay their combined value plus a fixed bonus, and twelve of them hit the previously mentioned max prize.

After some time on the lower levels, I figured that since wins stayed between 0.50x and 2x my bet, I could probably squeeze more from the fourth option, especially since wilds didn’t cooperate either. On that last tier, roughly every two spins, I secured wins as low as 2x and as high as 8x my bet.

Given the required bet level and therefore strong, constant returns, after less than 20 spins, I felt comfortable enough to buy into the free spins round. From the options of eight and twelve, I chose the latter for 140x my bet, a steep price.

During the round, every extra Scatter that lands adds three more spins to the total. I liked the idea, since more spins mean more chances to stack Diamonds. However, my round stayed quiet, and the round closed at 18x my bet.

Overall, Diamond Style didn't disappoint, but I expected more from the free spins round. On the other hand, the base game and top bet option worked well in my session, so if I'd played more than 200 spins, I'd probably trigger the bonus round naturally and see its full potential.
