Starlight Coins: Collect Cosmic Coins Across a Grid With No Paylines and a 3,934x Ceiling

The first thing you should know about Starlight Coins by Platipus Gaming is that it doesn't run on a regular slot system. The five-reel, four-row grid drops coin symbols with specific enhancements, and you completely rely on them and the Collect star to cash anything in.

When that star lands, it sweeps every coin on screen into your win, and on a loaded grid, the 3,934x ceiling is where a little bit of luck can take you.

It basically means you'll wait for specific activations to happen. I did too, and in my case, the first trigger after about 20 spins was a Collect star landing next to a handful of low coins, mostly x1s and x2s across three reels. It grabbed everything and returned around 8x the bet. 

When nothing happens, and that's most of the time, you're literally staring at a draining balance and hoping the rare triggers make up for it.

The bigger action comes from the Respins. Sticky symbols, gold coins with a purple star, lock on the grid and stay there until three of them fill the middle row and trigger 3 Respins. You can also buy in for 100x your bet.

Once inside, the Boost Row fires above the grid. The Multiplier Booster adds +1 to every coin below it, stacking each respin, and the Upgrade Booster levels coins into Stickies and Stickies into Mystery Jackpots. Mystery symbols can also drop during Respins and transform into anything at the end.

My three Respins had the Multiplier Booster going twice and an Upgrade turning a Sticky into a Mystery Jackpot. When it all settled, three x100 coins, a x200, and that Mystery Jackpot sat on the grid. The wheel spun, landed on Mini at 10x my bet, and the round cashed out at 26x my bet.

Overall, while I do like the mechanics here, and they open up a lot of possibilities, the downside can sting. What happens when you go 30 spins with nothing? Can two or three hits of x50 or more balance that out? The outcomes can genuinely go either way, so I'd say try the demo first before putting real money behind it.
