Cyber Pup Megaways by Pragmatic Play drops you into a quiet neighbourhood full of kids who have built their own robots. There are cascading cyber dogs, a special top reel, and up to 30 free spins with increasing multipliers with each winning combination. Honestly, pretty tame for a Pragmatic Play release which made me skeptical and I couldn’t resist checking this one out. 

The game runs on 6 reels with 2 to 7 rows and a top horizontal reel that holds four symbol spaces. In my session, base game returns landed every 3 to 6 spins, usually between 0.20x to 1.70x my bet. Most of those came from lower symbol combinations and small cascades. 

Higher-paying symbols showed up less often, and even when they did, they struggled to push wins past 3.20x. Wilds can land on reels 2 to 6, but I barely saw them naturally, making the base game feel flat overall.

The main base feature is the Lightning Bolt on the top reel. When it lands, it selects a random symbol from the middle reels and turns all of its instances into wilds. This is where most of my decent wins came from. When it connected properly, it pushed payouts into the 6.30x to 11.45x range, but it didn’t happen often enough to carry the session.

Free spins are triggered by landing 4 or more scatter symbols. I landed four and took the standard 10 spins without using the gamble option. During the feature, a multiplier builds with every cascade and, importantly, it does not reset between spins. That’s where most of the potential sits.

In my first bonus, I built the multiplier up to 11x, but the final result was just 48x my bet. The second trigger climbed slightly higher to a 13x multiplier, but still only paid 55x. Even with the multipliers stacking properly, the symbol values just didn’t scale enough to turn those into bigger wins.

For it’s easy going theme and fun background music, the Cyber Pup Megaways slot wasn’t generous at all throughout my multiple playthroughs. The unique art style and theme were good enough but they do not make up for weak bonus game payouts and a mediocre base game.
