Sidewinder DoubleMax: Fruits, 7s, and Golden bets

Sometimes all you need to keep slot gaming enthusiasts happy is an old-school slot with just a few tweaks and Reflex Gaming’s Sidewinder DoubleMax is a prime example of that. Be it nostalgia or a curiosity for the Sidewinder meter, I decided to check it out. 

Safe to say I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I really like the simplicity of the mechanics and features you will find here but then the same things can get super repetitive and take the fun out of the game itself. 

The base game by itself is a call back to the software provider’s land-based titles whereas the Sidewinder feature comes up in regular intervals to spice up the gameplay. The feature randomly triggers during a losing spin and shuffles all the reels. Alongside that, each shuffle where you win an amount will increase the win multiplier by 1x. 

The feature ends when a shuffle does not produce a win and the multiplier goes back to the standard 1x. Perfect for slot game purists who need just a bit of extra action but probably not a good choice for players like me who want more. 

The Golden Bet feature worth a 0.25x extra bet is a must-try if you are going to play this game, during my observations I found that it was regularly helping me get more Sidewinder symbols which will make the game have way higher returns in the long run. 

At the end of the day, the slot is arcade-like with an energetic soundtrack and an addictive meter that you want to fill up. However, it falls short when compared to Reflex Gaming’s more famous titles like 9K Yeti and Secret of Anubis. Even if it wasn’t for me, I’d recommend giving it a shot!
