Crimson Castle: Invade Dracula's Stronghold for Three Jackpots

Prepare yourself; RTG has found the forbidden castle of Count Dracula: Crimson Castle. This accursed castle hides ancient, eerie beasts, three jackpots, and a hold-and-win round. Two devil statues guard this stronghold but couldn't stop me from invading it during my two-hour gameplay session.

Inside, I found a five-reel, three-row slot filled with bats, wolves, and other night creatures of Dracula. There are only 10 paylines, where I needed to land at least three identical symbols on any one of them to get a payout. The coin symbols made things a little tricky, but plenty of wilds helped balance it out.

In the base game, I was landing wins every three to five spins, with average returns hovering between 0.80x and 2.30x my bet. Thanks to the frequent wilds, there were some good wins worth 8x, 6x, and 10x my bet, and no dry stretches lasted longer than seven spins.

The hold-and-spin round was another treat, as you'll need six or more cash symbols on the grid to trigger it. The castle can also randomly throw cash symbols onto the grid to activate the feature. I triggered this round more than 10 times during my 400+ spin session, with all of them returning less than 40x my bet.

Sadly, I never landed any of the advertised jackpots. I triggered my first bonus within the first 40 spins, which gave me a total return of 25x my bet. Three of my highest bonus returns were 32x, 37.50x, and 39.20x my bet.

Although there are no ante bets, the bonus buy will cost you 35x your bet. Given how often I managed to trigger this round naturally, I don't think you'll need to buy your way into it.

However, I would have appreciated the addition of a gamble feature, as the bonus returns felt too low without the jackpots. That would give passionate players a choice between taking a higher risk and settling for lower returns.

Personally, I see Crimson Castle as an entry-level slot, with limited bonus wins and jackpots. Its near-perfect visuals earn it some points, along with the frequent bonus rounds, but I felt the win potential was far too low compared to other modern-day slots.
