The game uses a 3x3 layout with 5 paylines, where regular symbols pay between 1x and 30x your bet, while the Wild symbol reaches up to 50x returns. My session got off to a surprisingly strong start, delivering a 4x payout on the third spin followed almost immediately by a 20x win. The average came out to about 1x to 4x my stake through the lower-paying symbols.

Despite being the Wild, the Genie itself felt rarer than the Coin and Collect symbols. Most of the time it appeared on the first reel, but even then it often felt wasted whenever Collect symbols occupied the centre reel instead. If you're hoping the Wild will regularly save dead spins, I wouldn't count on it.

The main attraction is the Hold and Hit bonus, triggered by landing Coin symbols on the first and third reels with a Collect symbol sitting between them on reel two. Once activated, you receive three respins, with every new Coin or Collect symbol resetting the counter back to three. Coin values can reach 15x your bet, while jackpot symbols award prizes up to 1,000x.

My own trigger started modestly with two 1x Coin symbols and a Collect symbol in the middle. Things improved quickly when a second Collect symbol landed just two spins later. Since every Collect gathers all Coin values on screen, I effectively got paid twice for a series of 2x to 6x Coin prizes, which pushed the feature to a sweet 38x payout by the time the respins ended.

To be fair to Magical Genie Hold and Hit 3x3, the small grid keeps the action moving and the bonus feature is easy to follow. The downside is that most of the game's potential sits entirely inside that Hold and Hit round, while the Wild symbol ends up feeling far less important than the Coins and Collects surrounding it.
