On paper, it sounds like the sort of slot that should constantly be throwing money at you. In practice, the experience was a little less exciting.

The game runs on a 5x3 grid with 25 paylines, keeping things fairly traditional despite all the bonus mechanics lurking underneath. Symbol values are on the lower side, so most regular combinations won't have you rushing to the cashier. Still, the hit frequency felt decent enough during my session. Small wins worth 0.30x to 1x my bet arrived every couple of spins, which was enough to keep the balance from completely evaporating while I searched for something bigger.

Wild symbols do a lot of the heavy lifting. They appeared surprisingly often, sometimes every other spin, and regularly landed beside one another to create longer combinations across multiple paylines. These wild-assisted wins often produced returns between 2.40x and 4.70x my bet. The game also has a Random Wild feature that can suddenly drop additional wilds onto the reels, turning otherwise dead spins into respectable payouts.

The main attraction is the bonus game, which requires six or more bonus symbols to trigger. Depending on which chilli modifiers appear, the feature can gain extra abilities such as additional respins, multipliers, or Double Reels. I managed to trigger the Double Reels version, which splits the bonus into two separate 5x3 grids running simultaneously.

Once inside, the familiar hold-and-respin mechanics take over. Cash symbols lock in place and award their displayed values, while each new symbol resets the respin counter. Most of the cash values I saw ranged from 1x to 4x my bet, which sounded promising at first. Unfortunately, the reels never really got going, and the bonus ended with returns hovering around 9x to 11x my stake.

Overall, Fire Chilli isn't a bad slot, just a painfully average entry that didn’t show me any of that advertised potential in two hours of play. The base game is active enough, the wilds appear frequently, and the carnival theme has plenty of energy. The problem is that the bonus feature never felt as rewarding as the setup suggested.
