Yokai: Follow the Way of The Blade to an 8,000x Max Win

Yokai by BGaming is one of the studio's Art Collab series, and you'll notice its unique visual approach right away. Designed by Portuguese street artist Gonçalo MAR, the game drops us into a hand-drawn world of samurai and masked spirits laid across a five-by-three grid.

But what is in it for you? Well, the bonus brings free spins with persistent sticky wilds, up to 10x wild multipliers, and an 8,000x max win.

Despite the highest-paying symbol that pays up to 20x the bet, I did not have much luck in the base game. Wins ranged between 0.25x and 0.5x my bet every seven to 15 spins. Even the wilds could not help, since the moon multiplier resets on every base-game spin.

Land three scatters and the free spins begin. Inside, every wild turns sticky and remains on the reels until the round ends, and each one still carries a multiplier value up to 10x that the moon collects, but it grows as the round goes.

I was eager to see what an art collab looks like from the inside, but across 70 spins or so, three scatters never came, so the bonus buy at 100x my bet became the only right move.

The samurai cut the moons, and their total said 15 free spins for the round. My moon multiplier climbed only as far as 3x, and the round totaled 85x my bet, which fell just short of the 100x I paid to get in, so I was ready to wrap things up.

Overall, I enjoy a slice of the unusual in slots, and the visuals here really are a cut above. But my session, and the base game especially, was nothing to brag about. Even the bonus buy couldn’t cover the expenses of the low-paying session.
