The base game is played in an arena made up of 8 reels and 8 rows where 4 or more symbols touching each other either horizontally or vertically award a win. Although the game has cluster pays, after a win the symbols are taken out and new symbols spin into their positions. I didn’t make any significant wins through this feature but I still found it to be a neat addition to the base game. 

In my playthrough, winning combinations typically required just 2 to 3 symbols, offering payouts between 0.25x and 2x my bet. The gamble mini-game is initially off in the base game, and activating it seemed to reduce my overall winnings. Additionally, the mini-game didn’t match the Aztec theme visually, making it feel oddly out of place within the slot. 

Non-winning spins in this slot often open up new opportunities, so missing a winning combination never felt discouraging. The game includes four distinct wild features, with the field feature being the most frequent. This feature randomly places up to 12 wild symbols on the board and appears regularly, offering returns ranging from 2.50x to 7.50x in my experience.

Among the four wild features, I had the best luck with the lake feature which randomly places up to 5 wilds and replaces the symbols adjacent to them with new ones. This feature helped me get up to 12.50x returns a few times. There are additional features with unique takes on symbol destruction and transformation but they had a similar impact on my playthrough and none of them really stood out to me. 

This slot doesn’t include a bonus game, but with the sheer variety of features, it stays engaging throughout. However, I found both the achievement bonus and the Tenochtitlan award underwhelming in terms of payouts, so it’s best not to expect massive wins here. Still, Aztec Riches by Eurasian Gaming offers plenty of entertainment and is well worth trying out.
