Grand Ahoy is a bright and colorful online slot from Iron Dog with a pirate theme. It takes place out at sea with ships and pieces of debris bobbing about in the water and the gaming grid in the middle of the screen. There are 30 paylines and the special features include respins and cash prize collection.

During my playthrough of Grand Ahoy, I played the Hold and Win respin feature a total of three times. I bought it twice and later on, the feature triggered on its own. It cost 75x to buy Hold and Win, though I failed to make a profit from the feature. The first time I bought it, I won around 25x my bet; the second time, my payout was a bit better at 36x, but this was still a significant loss.

When Hold and Win came into play on its own, my payout was 24x. The feature worked like most other respin rounds, though there was a key difference: landing coin symbols didn’t reset the number of respins to three. Only the collector symbol did this, and this particular symbol was quite rare. It only appeared in the Hold and Win feature that triggered on its own. 

Even when I did land the collector symbol and went back to three respins, I still made a hefty loss. If it was easier to reset the number of respins, I probably would have earned greater payouts from the feature and might have even made a profit. 

There wasn’t a free spins round in Grand Ahoy, which would have benefited the slot. My biggest base game win was 14x my bet, which I won thanks to landing the collector symbol. Other than that, my payouts were much less than 10x.

On the whole, I thought Grand Ahoy was a decent slot to play. I just wish the Hold and Win feature worked more like a standard respin round.
