Massive Studios’ Rooster Returns takes the humor and chaos of the original and turns it into a full-blown feature-packed showdown. The action unfolds on a 6x4 grid with 20 paylines paying from left to right. With an RTP of 96.56% and punishing volatility, wins didn’t come every few spins, but when they did, the rewards were well worth it. In my playthrough, regular wins ranged between 0.5x and 2.5x my bet, while the big bursts came whenever a Wild Multiplier landed. 

When a Wild lands, it expands to cover the reel and triggers a re-spin. If multiple Wilds appear, their multipliers add up before being applied to any line wins. I had a couple of moments where two Wild Multipliers landed side by side, and watching those numbers stack felt incredible. During re-spins, I even managed to land another Wild, leading to back-to-back chain reactions carrying over 15x wins.

Then there’s the Super Wild Multiplier. When it lands, it not only applies its multiplier to any wins on the reels but also enhances other Wilds already in view. On my best spin, a Super Wild Multiplier added its value to two regular Wilds, creating a boosted multiplier combo that turned an average win into a huge one. It’s an adrenaline rush every time it appears.

The Free Games bonus brings the big rewards. Landing three or more Egg Scatters triggers a spin on the Wheel of Fortune, which decides how many spins and what starting multiplier you get. I triggered 14 spins with a 5x multiplier, but hitting the Golden Egg upgrades you to Super Free Games with even higher numbers. 

During my Free Games, Wild Multipliers and Super Wild Multipliers stacked onto a global win multiplier that kept growing, leading to several thrilling spins worth over 20x each. There’s also a clever scatter collection mechanic. Every Egg Scatter during Free Games is collected, and every fifth one retriggers the wheel, adding more spins and boosting your global multiplier. 

If you’re looking to skip straight to the fun, you can use the Bonus Buy panel. Paying 100x your bet activates standard Free Games, while 500x grants access to Super Free Games with the Golden Wheel. I tested both, and despite the higher multipliers none justified their steep price tags. The two Game Enhancers, at 2x and 10x the bet, also increase the odds of hitting bonuses naturally, while unlocking the max Win potential of 50,000x the stake.

After playing through several sessions, I’d say Rooster Returns is one of Massive Studios’ most entertaining releases so far. The mix of Wild Multipliers, respins, and retriggerable Free Games keeps the action constantly engaging. While its volatility makes it risky, the rewards more than justify the wait. This rooster’s comeback definitely cements his place as the king of the barnyard.
