Game Show Retro by NeoGames is a slot that aims to capture the liveliness of classic TV game shows. It’s designed to a high standard and has great graphics and animations, not to mention a pleasant soundtrack that fits the theme perfectly.

The gameplay is straightforward. The slot uses the cluster pays mechanic, so three or more matching symbols that are touching horizontally or vertically give you a win. The cascades system is also in place, giving each winning spin the potential to create more wins.

When I played Game Show Retro, I hoped to land the curtain symbol a lot of times. This one symbol could trigger any of the slot’s four bonuses: a special cash prize, a respin, an expanded wild, or a wheel with cash prizes. 

During my playthrough, this symbol only landed four times. Three of the times, it triggered a respin, and the remaining time it gave me a cash payout of just 3x. One of the times I got a respin, I ended up winning 34x, which was my biggest payout.

The rest of my wins were fairly small, mostly around the size of my bet. It was a shame that the wild was locked behind the curtain symbol, because I might have won more if the wild had appeared alongside the other symbols.

I liked the idea of a special symbol awarding one of four features since it added some unpredictability and excitement to the slot. However, I felt that the gameplay wasn’t the most enjoyable since this symbol hardly ever appeared.

Even so, I’d still recommend giving Game Show Retro a spin. The cascade system means you might score a few decent wins from the base game while you wait for the curtain symbol to appear.
