Playson stacks its 3-reel cabinet with a lightning-fueled coin system in Coin Strike XXL Hold and Win. Three reels, five rows, and fifteen paylines keep it familiar, but golden coins carry instant cash rewards, alongside a Hold and Win bonus round to collect them, and a 1,000x Grand Jackpot.

In the base game, fruit and BAR lines held my returns in the 0.70x to 4x range, and I’d typically hit something every three to nine spins. The gold coins that land only on reels one and three kept teasing me every few spins.

These coins carry values from x1 to x8, but they just sit there until the blue strike coin drops on the middle reel. Once you have both, the blue strike coin combines all values in the grid into a single payout. Around 70 spins in, one strike coin landed alongside three gold ones, and I got to cash out 12x the stake on a single spin.

The bonus round triggered naturally not long after, around the 100th spin, when one coin landed on each reel at once. Three respins kicked things off, every new coin reset the counter back to three, and the strike coin (collect) stayed put on the middle reel the whole way through.

Gold coins kept dropping from the sides, most carrying small values, but one turned out to be a Minor Jackpot worth 30x my bet. That single coin shaped the round, and the rest trickled in to close the feature at 64x total.

A Super Bonus buy also sits alongside the regular one for three guaranteed strike coins, and there's a Pile of Gold feature that randomly dumps enough coins to trigger the bonus round.

Overall, this one lives or dies on the middle reel. My strike coin showed up just enough to prove it, a Minor Jackpot in the bonus round was a nice touch, and it kind of saved the session. This is a familiar cabinet with a real kick when the lightning hits.

Reliable mechanics and hits

The 3x3 layout has great mechanics. Wild symbols make for consistent base game hits, and the payout frequency is high enough to stay engaged. A solid choice for direct, technical gameplay.
