Great Ghosts: Well-Themed, but Very Hard to Break Even

First of all, I really liked the theming of Great Ghosts. The slot is set in a haunted house and focuses on three human characters who, as it turns out, are actually ghosts. The playful background music and cartoonish design make the slot more comical than scary.

While the visuals were on point, the gameplay wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d hoped. The highlight of the slot was the respin round, which could have any combination of three modifiers active.

There were three scatters, each representing a different enhancer. Whenever one or more landed, the respin round had a chance of triggering with any of the visible scatter’s enhancers active.

Despite landing lots of scatters, the round never triggered. I took advantage of the optional ante bet and paid 5x my bet to have respins guaranteed if three scatters appeared. After spinning the reels 10 times, I didn’t get three scatters.

I then went for the more expensive option, which cost 25x and guaranteed a trigger if two scatters landed. This happened on the fifth spin, and I got two enhancers: Upgrade and Mystery.

The Upgrade enhancer created a frame of 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 that upgraded all cash prizes inside by the same random amount. As for Mystery, this added a pink cash symbol that had a mystery cash value, which turned out to be 10x.

I ended up winning 87x my bet from the feature. This would have been great had the feature triggered on its own. Unfortunately, I’d spent around twice that amount on ante bets trying to get the respin round to launch.

Overall, I liked the look and design of Great Ghosts and thought it was well presented. I’d still suggest giving the slot a go, just don’t bother with the ante bets. Also, be aware that it can take many spins for respins to trigger.
